Job Description

Our Ecological Team is currently seeking a Senior Ecologist/Biologist experienced in ecological restoration projects. This position will work within the framework of C-K’s company-wide Ecological Team primarily focusing on ecological restoration projects and project management of those projects.

 

Responsibilities:   

  • Project management of ecological or multi-disciplinary projects;
  • Technical oversight on ecological restoration projects and working within C-K’s professional network to identify new opportunities in this field;
  • Provide mentoring in the technical field for junior staff;
  • Direct ecological investigations;
  • Develop and secure new project work;
  • Keep current with emerging and changing regulations that impact our client base;
  • Mapping and field physical data collection will be required;
  • Field work includes operation of heavy equipment and navigating hazardous terrain;
  • Office work includes data analysis, map preparation, and report preparation; and
  • Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties and assignments as needed.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or MS in Biology or Ecological field;
  • A minimum of 15 years experience in related field;
  • Nine years of experience with ecological investigation projects;
  • Five years of experience working on NRDA projects, including HEA and REA modeling;
  • Experience with site remedial investigations with emphasis on ecological restoration, wetland permitting, mitigation, and assimilation are a plus;
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and the Endangered Species Act; and
  • Must be able to satisfy all Drug & Alcohol, Health & Safety, and Security requirements to access clients’ facilities.

 

Essential Skills:

  • Possess the skills considered necessary to perform and coordinate technical project tasks in regards to schedules, budgets, QA/QC, and deadlines; 
  • Ability to develop compliance solutions in a team environment, communicate those solutions to the client, regulatory agencies, and project staff effectively;
  • Read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations;
  • Ability to identify and develop new projects;
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;
  • Excellent computer skills with advance knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs and all basic office equipment;
  • Positive work ethic, including strong personal organization skills and self-motivation toward company and career objectives;
  • Participation in professional organizations;
  • Available to travel as needed; and
  • Must continue to refine new areas of expertise.
