Job Description

PURPOSE

Perform cost accounting, inventory, and internal control activities at an assigned location.    Activities will focus on production, product costing, inventory control, budgeting, and associated processes and internal control.    This position works closely with management in all aspects of cost accounting and continuous improvement with  general ledger or general accounting activities.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop  new product costing and periodic full absorption costing.
  • Support daily operations through tracking and analyzing production, inventory and costing data.
  • As active team member implement PeopleSoft Manufacturing module.
  • Maintain local fixed asset/capital expenditure  records and  historical spend by asset and provide reporting to management.
  • Participate in the budget development and analysis process, regularly providing forecasting information.
  • Participate in and champion continuous process improvement efforts
  • Monthly journal entry development.        
  • Assist in the development of month end PID’s during remanufacturing.
  • Review, research, and evaluate complex issues and initiate changes or corrections as needed.
  • ·         Develop and maintain processes to  effectively track/review/audit pumice sales and   recyclable material. 
  • ·         Develop and document accounting policies, procedures, and processes.
  • ·         May perform internal control reviews and compliance testing as needed.
  • ·         Perform other duties as necessary.
  • Participate on special project teams as needed.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
Qualifications

  SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of plant manufacturing environment and processes
  • Strong analytical skills and math skills
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team and project management skills
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet regular deadlines
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes desirable
  • Ability to operate a computer and supporting software packages, including PeopleSoft and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

 

EDUCATION:

  • BA/BS in Accounting
  • CMA, CPA, or CIA  preferred

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Food manufacturing preferred.
  • 3 +  Years demonstrated cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Manufacturing Environment. 
  • Ten key by touch required
  • Manufacturing season is generally July – October; longer hours and work weeks required, usually a seven day per week operation. Vacation time is typically not permitted.
  • May be exposed to fumes, chemicals and airborne particles. 
  • Must have the ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, work in various temperatures indoors (cold, hot and/or humid – indoors), and work with elevated noise levels.
