Engineer/Draftsmen ($25/hr) 6 Week Duration

Summary:

With limited supervision, performs routine functions that require application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Limited exercise of judgment is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

Designs, redesigns, lays-out and details as necessary mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies and components of new and existing machines.

Checks drawings for form, fit, function, tolerance and conformance to sound design practice.

Designs and develops improvements to existing equipment including the preparation of cost estimates.

Performs a full range of standard technical calculations.

Recommends proper material and hardware for projects.

consults with production, sales and service personnel, vendors and others concerning the advisability of contemplated designs or changes to existing designs.

conduct field tests of new or redesigned products. Designs, assembles or approves necessary test apparatus.

Studies customer operations preparatory to the design of new or redesign of existing machines.

Assist sales in the presentation of products as required.

Education and/or Experience

BS degree level in Mechanical, Agricultural, or other appropriate engineering discipline or an equivalent combination of work and experience. Experience with CAD design and development tools on desktop computers. Experience with MATLAB and/or MathCAd desirable. Familiarity with electronic spreadsheets and word processors such as Excel, Lotus, Word, etc.
