Job Description

The Technical Operations Product Engineer is responsible for the strategic technical support of Our Company's products. The position works cross functionally with Engineering, PLM, Customers, and the Customer Service organization to analyze and provide solutions through product enhancements, defect resolution, documentation, or custom solutions. Product Engineers have product ownership and leadership from the Technical Service organization. 

Description:
Member of Our Company's Technical Operations Tier 4 team. Responsible for support of Our Company's Next-Gen DTN-X platform.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities:
In partnership with development teams, driving the introduction of new modules and system features
Investigate integration possibilities of Our Company's line system with 3rd party optical equipment
Provide feedback and drive product enhancements to closure with Engineering and Product Management
Act as a customer advocate in cross functional meetings
Produce customer facing documents that explain issues as well as root cause analysis
Drive customer escalations to resolution with Engineering
Reproduce field issues and assist with testing in the lab
Participate and assist field engineers in customer demos, lab trials and field trials

Qualifications

Education / Experience

Ph.D. in Engineering + 2 years of experience
or
B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering + 8 years of experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Strong operating and troubleshooting knowledge across the following routing and switching technologies: TCP/IP, OSPF, MPLS, RIP, Switching technologies (VLAN/Trunking) 
Extensive knowledge in IP networking in layers 2-4 (TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs, VLAN stacking, Spanning Tree) 
Extensive experience with traffic generators and network protocols analysis tools 
Practical knowledge of L1/L2 technologies: Ethernet, SONET/SDH
Strong problem solving skills, applicable to large and complex network scenarios 
Programming or system test experience required
Prior experience with optical networks required
Prior leadership roles preferred
Customer communication experience preferred
