We are a growing mobile game development studio seeking an experienced and accomplished Monetization Analyst to provide analytic leadership and support to our team, helping to manage, design & optimize our in-game economies across our growing portfolio of social & mobile games. One of the main responsibilities will be working with our Product Development teams to structure, test and decide how our virtual economies, currencies and payouts can be optimized, while also balancing and increasing player engagement, satisfaction and monetization.

Job Description

  • Analyze consumer data to draw insights and make strategic recommendations around customer acquisition, customer retention, website activity and visitor behavior to drive optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to use platform APIs to generate viral growth of newly developed games and features
  • Tuned-in to platform changes and nuances, including the ability to make recommendations to adjust content and publishing strategy as a result
  • Ensure proper performance tracking and apply learnings across page management
  • Apply quantitative modeling and statistical analysis to measure and predict user behavior
  • Utilize variant testing experimentation and user behavior optimization on live games
  • Reverse-engineer competitive products to identify emerging opportunities in the freenium market
  • Develop analytic framework and KPI to measure in-app user behavior

  • Schedule promotions and other initiatives and measuring and reporting on the outcomes and successes and areas for improvement
  • Be responsible for creating detailed pricing & revenue analyses, profitability forecasting, consumer focused targeting, A/B testing and other presentations and analyses that are important for monetization
  • Drive improved monetization through launching, testing & analyzing various initiatives that can include targeted offers, sales promotions, new virtual goods, subscription services, in-game advertising, new platforms and partner evaluation and other mobile initiatives
  • It will be your responsibility for scheduling promotions and other initiatives and measuring and reporting on the outcomes and successes and areas for improvement
  • Work closely with both internal producers and external developers to design compulsion loops, micro and macro economies, and manage the placement of in game special offers and other such strategic and tactical revenue generation initiatives using both economic and psychological best practices
  • Maintain involvement across a broad slate of games from inception to close out
  • Help drive our strategic acquisition and retention efforts towards optimal LTV customers- at the same time, focus on the long term- to drive real value for our hard won customers instead of taking quick wins at the expense of our long-term customer relationships

  • Assist in optimizing ad flow for best user experience and driving maximum revenue
  • Assist with the creation of the pricing and monetization strategies employing both freenium and premium/paid revenue models
  • Develop forecasting & revenue models to test and measure sales promotions, customized and personalized sales & game experiences, and employ predictive and real-time analytics to monitor and improve key performance metrics such as revenue, purchase patterns, conversion, content life cycles, player lifetime value, retention, virality and engagement.
  • Design & refine our in-game economies while collaborating with key decision makers on new game features to ensure the continuing growth and profitability of our new upcoming mobile games.
  • Lead the day-to-day implementation and optimization of in-app revenue streams, focuses on (but not exclusive to) in-app commerce
  • Ensure timely, creative, and data-driven approaches to monetizing users’ post-launch--to drive engagement and monetization.
  • Work closely with other members of the monetization team to ensure in-app advertising inventory is optimized and to understand impact of sales and promotions on in-app commerce and engagement
  • Work closely with product and marketing team members on acquisition and retention efforts to ensure focus on high LTV customer segments and to model campaign costs and benefits
  • Support Finance on key inputs into revenue forecasts

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • A working knowledge of SQL, SAA/SPSS or programming languages useful to data retrieval and analysis is important
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated leadership and persuasive influence. Strong analytical thinker with good business acumen.
  • Strong foundation in statistics and statistical concepts.
  • Experience working with senior managers and executives.
  • Analytical mind and strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong collaboration skills with other departments including tech and design. 
  • Proven skills in problem-solving, follow-through, attention to detail, and priority setting - deadline driven
  • Understanding of Product Development lifecycles
  • Familiarity with mobile and social game business models, including both premium and freenium.
  • Keen business & marketing sense (you know what makes players want to play!)
  • Previous experienced with analysis web focused on driving & optimizing current and new revenue streams through careful testing, data analysis and execution
  • Data-driven, detail-oriented, creative, flexible, organized and thorough in the creation, setup, testing and analysis of sales promotions and monetization efforts.
  • You can make rational business decisions based on the scientific method, data analysis, A/B testing and are familiar with the concepts of CPA, CPC, CPM, eCPMs, LTVs and other related metrics
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; Economics, Math, MBA or Graduate Degree a plus.  Analytics should be second nature to you.
  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint and other relevant analysis & presentation software
  • Must embrace teamwork, as well as solve problems independently and proactively
  • Enjoy playing games on social & mobile platforms (Facebook / iOS / Android)

Ideal Candidate

  • 2+ years professional related experience, preferably for a games or application company or other related software product management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of UI/UX best practices including Mobile and Responsive Design.
  • C++, Java, Unity knowledge a plus
  • Experience running traditional pricing research (in an industry)
  • Experience designing and running A/B/multi-variant tests and/or primary market research (e.g., focus groups)
  • Solid understanding of social networks and how to leverage the "social graph"
  • Ability to design solutions for game software using a data-driven approach
  • Extensive experience with web analytics, social monitoring and ad serving tools
  • Proven experience working with third-party optimization software
  • Proven experience with interactive marketing tactics (SEM, SEO, Display, Social etc.)
  • Deep understanding of social media, gaming and online advertising highly desirable
  • Deep understanding of monetization KPI for apps/games
  • Highly detail oriented; ability to meet deadlines and effective problem solving skills
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management

  • Experience writing SQL database queries a plus; advanced knowledge of statistics, modeling, Monte Carlo simulations, decision trees, price & demand elasticities, regressions and data-mining
  • Extensive experience querying complex data sets, creating pivot tables and performing regression analysis
  • Practical background working with statistics and ambiguity in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Ability to execute research projects, and generate practical results and recommendations
  • Ability to see trends, understands the competitive landscape, and possesses the aptitude to see the big business picture
  • Demonstrated ability to track business drivers and map requirements to a product roadmap for pre- and post- launch products
  • Strong relationship management skills and / or operational experience in leading multiple cross-functional teams to achieve a business objective
