Company Description
The Bouchier Group, comprised primarily of Bouchier Contracting Ltd. and Bouchier Site Services Ltd., is based in Fort McKay, Alberta. We are an Aboriginal owned and operated company that currently employs a staff of more than 300 individuals.
In operation since 1998, we provide a variety of services to the Athabasca Oil Sands Region and have a presence on many of the major Oil Sands Mine Sites including Canadian Natural's Horizon Site, Imperial Oil's Kearl Oil Sands Site, Total Site and Husky's Sunrise Site. The Bouchier Group is one of the largest First Nations Companies in the area that provides construction, maintenance, and general site services.
Job Description
SUMMARY
The basic function of the Equipment Operator is to operate construction equipment in a safe and effective manner. This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor and is given all authority necessary to operate assigned equipment in a safe and effective manner.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Equipment Operator is responsible to ensure that:
- All assigned equipment is operated in a safe and effective manner;
- All assigned equipment is kept clean in accordance with written standards;
- Any required repairs to assigned equipment are communicated to maintenance personnel;
- Read, countersign and enter comments into daily operator log book.
The Equipment Operator shall:
- Operate all assigned equipment in a safe and effective manner;
- Complete and document a pre‐operational check on assigned equipment;
- Grease equipment as necessary;
- Ensure loads are legal weight;
- Ensure all equipment has proper safety equipment in place;
- Keep interior clean;
- Load and unload equipment from the low‐bed;
- Fill water tanks as necessary;
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with customers and other employees;
- Willingness to train new and inexperienced team members;
- Participate in JHA’s, FLRA’s and line‐up meetings ;
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
Qualifications
Applicants must have the following qualifications and certifications:
- Valid Class 1 Licence
- CSTS
- OSSA
- First Aid, WHMIS (separate from CSTS) and Ground Disturbance considered assets.
- Valid drivers licence
- Must have extensive experience on the following equipment, oil sands experience is an asset:
Excavator
Loader
Rock Truck
Dozer
Grader
