Like any website or profile page, a Facebook Fan Page is a marketing and communication channel allowing the company to directly connect with individuals who have opted into receiving a company’s message. But a Facebook Fan Page is more than just a communication medium serving as a company’s front porch and customer service platform to engage the more than 750 million Facebook users. A Facebook Fan Page can serve as a recruiting and sourcing tool just like a company blog or Twitter allowing you opportunities to directly engage and educate your target candidate market.
Following the release of our Facebook App last week, this week was back in the trenches, solving bugs and making things easier.

Before the end of 2011, Facebook, the world’s largest and most popular social networking platform will reach 1 billion users. The United States has over 154 million Facebook users, the largest of any country. One of the simplest and easiest recruiting methodologies is to go where the people are when searching for talent. Like attending an in person networking event specific for a certain industry you are sure to meet a handful of quality contacts but you are limited by time, as well as, geography. For recruiters, Facebook changes that.

For businesses, it is just too difficult to hire. Since Obama’s speech on the “American Job Act” (September 8th) the Republicans and Democrats in Congress and the Media have been vigorously debating what is the “common sense” approach to job creation. Yes, yes, more jobs. However, there are already some 4 million jobs already open right now. How can we create more jobs if we are unable to fill the current job openings? When addressing America’s top economic concern, unemployment, we must start with the hiring process. ”More than 80% of the small businesses we survey (those with fewer than 2,500 employees) tell us they are struggling to find great talent,” reports Josh Bersin, President and CEO of Bersin & Associates. Unless we make hiring easy, any Job Creation Act is going to turn into a Job Vacancy Act.
We focused the last two weeks of product development in building and improving features that help you promote your jobs better, faster so that you can reach more job seekers. We are proud to announce our new SmartRecruiters Careers App that can be used to display your jobs on your Facebook fan page.
Despite the roller coaster stock market and economy, things on the job front just might be on the up and up. In July, job postings and position advertisements increased to levels not seen in three years. Job postings increased from 3.17 million to 3.23 million. On average, a job opening takes one to three months to fill, meaning that job creation should be on the rise by early September or August, just in time for the decline that corporations typically see during the holiday season as many organization’s fiscal year comes to a close.
So what’s changed?
