Job Description

The Test Technician will work under the direction of the Engineering Supervisor and support all areas of R&D Battery Testing.  Primary responsibilities of this position include (1) Formation and Cycle Life Test Execution (2) Equipment Installation and Troubleshooting (3) Data Processing, Analysis and Reporting

Primary responsibilities

  • Execute daily cell formation testing and support R&D build operations
    • Includes initial prototype electrical tests and data entry of build information
    • Implement simple solutions to reduce operator variation & potential quality defects
  • Monitor and report status of R&D prototype cycle life testing
    • Includes troubleshooting battery tester hardware and software issues as they arise
  • Understand and modify test protocols to meet test request needs
  • Support new equipment installation and qualification
  • Independently document learning and data, analyzing using basic math and computer software
  • Focus on work area safety, cleanliness and organization
  • Perform other functions as required to support the R&D operation

Qualifications

Successful candidates will be both quality and detail oriented, be team oriented and flexible. They will possess good interpersonal skills, be proficient in written and verbal communication and be able to interface with co-workers and management.

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to grasp technical concepts and language and the ability to communicate in a data-driven manner
  • Capable of learning quickly and able to problem solve technical issues independently
  • Proficient in Maccor and/or Arbin battery testing equipment and software
  • Skilled with electrical testing and assembly equipment – multimeter, milliohmmeter, oscilloscope, data logger, soldering iron etc.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma required - relevant battery experience and technical Associates degree preferred
  • Demonstrated success and experience in relevant technical industry
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, email and general computer use
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail
