Job Description

Job Title: Lead Network Support Technician / Architect

Work Location: Albany, NY

Duration: 24 Months



Project Scope- duties of position

 

Network Support and Operations, Network Management and Administration, CNS Operations NSO

 

The Network Support and Operations team is tasked with possessing expertise in troubleshooting routing, switching, VoIP, and firewall management. Strong customer relationship skills as well as troubleshooting of critical infrastructure and facilitating resolution with other ITS groups, are central to our operations. The project is support and management of all customer networking operations. Strong focus on routing and switching with ASR/ISR, cisco certified routing and switching or similar competency is needed.

 

Daily Tasks will include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Lead/assist with network support for all ITS managed agencies and customers, as well as other ITS groups.
  • Perform evaluations on software/hardware intended to be added or updated within the ITS Enterprise infrastructure or at ITS remote sites to ensure network continuity/compatibility.
  • Provide technical support, analysis & troubleshooting for ITS staff, customers, and their business partners.
  • Lead management of agency cores and the ITS core, including but not limited to firewalls, routers, switches, and some physical infrastructure.
  • Design, test, and implement a broad range of support solutions, at ITS Enterprise and remote sites.
  • Work with hardware vendors on support solutions including remediation of bugs and interoperability issues.
  • Utilize ITS tools for troubleshooting and managements.
  • Review (QA) network deployments and recommend remediation to ensure compliance with ITS Enterprise network standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, F5 and JunOS platforms is a must. Knowledge or CCNA competency in routing and switching is also a requirement.

PART A:  The ONE MANDATORY REQUIREMENT:

 

Senior Level 

You must be a Senior Lead Network Support Technician with documented employment experience of 5-7 years (60-84 months).

 

-  You must have technical experience centered around a technology, technologies or a portfolio of applications- Designing and implementing Information Technology solutions.

 

-  You must be able to work without assistance and can provide leadership for others; may have advanced education. 

 

 

PART B:   Requested Desirable  Qualifications:  The numbered qualifications below are not mandatory, but candidates should meet or exceed in duration and skill set target asked for, at least 5 of numbers 1 through 10. 

  1. 72 months Demonstrated experience with design, implementation and support of remote access solutions.
  2. 72 months Demonstrated direct working experience with design, implementation and support of a multi-vendor network environments. Candidate must have experience in configuration and support of Cisco and Nortel routers/switches, Juniper VPNs/firewalls and checkpoint VPN’s/firewalls.
  3. 72 months Demonstrated direct working experience troubleshooting application issues using protocol analysis tools. (i.e. Wireshark, Infinistream, Sniffer).
  4. 72 months Demonstrated direct working experience with design, implementation and support of Cisco/ Meraki wireless technologies, including both lightweight and autonomous.
  5. 72 months Demonstrated experience in design, implementation and support of QoS and traffic shaping technologies.
  6. 72 months Demonstrated direct working experience with design, implementation and support of WAN/LAN technologies, including Multicast, RIP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, Spanning Tree, CDP and Link Aggregation protocols.
  7. 72 months Demonstrated experience with design, implementation and support of Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Prevention Systems.
  8. 72 months Demonstrated experience providing technical guidance and training involving the above applications, tools and models, etc.
  9. Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, telecommunications or equivalent.  A copy of the degree must be submitted with the Candidate Response Form
  10. CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert).  A copy of the certification must be submitted with the Candidate Response Form
