Title:  Senior Software Engineer App Developer

 Location: Redwood City, CA

JOB SUMMARY

The Software Engineer will participate in product development activities ranging from product concept through validated release. This position will apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices for performing Development for software applications produced internally in the company.  This will include platform independent mobile applications and pc/tablet based applications and tools. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Develop software client applications for a system that includes the following:  an implantable stimulator and accessories, a device programmer, and Web services. 

·         Development activities include definition of system and software requirements, design and implementation of requirements, documentation of design, and contributions to verification and validation plans.

·         Develops software applications in a regulated environment in accordance with internal operating procedures and external standards and regulations.  Conducts cross-functional reviews of the software design at appropriate times in the development cycle. 

·         Significantly self-directed.  Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

·         Proactively identifies areas of developmental risk and communicates these to management accordingly. 

·         Assesses new test technologies via reviews of the state of the art or by performing proof of concept work. The results of this assessment must be communicated to the software team or other members of the development organization.

·         Works in accordance with quality system procedures and actively enforces its objectives. 

EXPERIENCE

B.S. in Computer Science, or similar degree. 

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

·         A minimum of 5 years’ experience in software application development is required. 

·         Strong algorithms, data structures and coding background.

·         Mastery of the Android ecosystem including Java, frameworks, design patterns, and system UI’s

·         Mastery of the iOS environment including C, Objective-C, Swift, Cocoa and application deployment

·         Experience with RESTful APIs, wireless communication and cross-platform development preferred.

·         Nice to have would include work with Java, PHP, Javascript and HTML.
