Job Description
Position: Class A Mechanic
Location: Burlington
Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Fleet Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing maintenance and repairs to the DC fleet of trucks, and to various types of heavy equipment. This includes diagnosis of causes of breakdown, ordering required parts, removal, rework and installation of various engine and chassis components, as well as implementing and/or modifying maintenance schedules. Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic pumps and motors, and air brake systems is required.
The key customers this position provides service for are the drivers and equipment operators who use these trucks and heavy equipment to perform their work. This position requires good communication skills, understanding and commitment to the team effort, flexibility, and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
May be assigned to other plant locations as required.
Educational & Experience:
Class A Mechanic License
Basic understanding of daily yard operations
Basic knowledge of truck and heavy equipment operation
Working knowledge of related maintenance and repair practices
Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic pumps and motors, and air brake systems
Mathematics, oral and written communication skills at the trade journeyman level
Valid driver's license
