As a Product Engineer, you will add value to our Company by managing the requirements for successful projects from the planning stages through budgeting, justification, funding approvals, commissioning, and manufacturing implementation. Throughout the entire product lifestyle, you will be responsible for directing a collaborative effort of multiple disciplines and effectively leading teams for product design and development projects. Project management skills for both large scale and smaller projects will be a key to your success. The Product Engineer is also apt in establishing clear objectives to solve the right problem, while thinking independently to identify requirements, prepare schedules, and implement solutions. This position requires an individual to lead and collaborate with project teams to reach a common goal by established deadlines. It will be your responsibility to prepare clear and effective documentation to assure compliant completion of technical programs, setting specifications, establishing test plans, and equipment qualifications. You must determine accurate costs for products and processes, and apply this information to justify programs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as effective public speaking skills, are required.
The position requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering field as well as three years of related work experience. Requisite technical knowledge includes project management, risk management, scheduling tools, mathematics, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, statistics, product costing, economics, materials design, metals, plastics, films, formulations and mixing, mechanical and machine design, quality control, product testing, statistics, design of experiments, SPC, metrology, an understanding of drafting, CAD, and reading blue prints, design development, descriptive geometry, dimensioning and tolerancing, risk analysis, design controls, setting specifications, value engineering, and design and process validation. Manufacturing knowledge required includes product design, industrial engineering, efficiencies, process control, machine shop techniques, methods for assembly, controls, automation, instrumentation, inspection systems, fabrication of metals and plastics, processing methods and techniques for metals and plastics, and packaging methods, techniques, and materials. Software knowledge in word processing, CAD, spreadsheets, statistical programs, database software, and product lifecycle management are required. Experience with hand tools, power tools, drill press, belt sander, grinder, and other equipment associated with the job requirements is also a necessity.
