Job Description

Full time position with a dynamic growth-oriented media services company (approx. 300 employees); headquarters are located in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

POSITION SUMMARY:   

The Payroll Manager is responsible for processing accurate monthly and semi-monthly payrolls in a timely manner for multiple companies and for employees located in multiple states. This position is also responsible for critical accounting related functions.


 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:           

-  Payroll Related Duties:

  • Process semi-monthly multi-company payroll timely and without assistance from other accounting department staff.
  • Review authorized personnel time sheets and overtime schedules.
  • Review all commission and bonus calculations according to the schedule of due dates.
  • Process and maintain personnel records, including all materials related to hiring, changes and terminating employees.
  • Processing personnel information requested or provided by HR regarding new enrollees, terminations, and changes, etc.
  • Coordinate with HR regarding employee verifications, garnishments, Cobra, etc. 
  • Responsible for federal and state taxes processed through ADP for multi-states.
  • Responsible for upkeep and maintaining all payroll related software (Access, ADP, etc)
  • Responsible for payroll related reporting.
  • Responsible for keeping current in changes in state and federal laws as it relates to Payroll and for implementing these changes. 
  • Regularly communicates with the Controller and others as appropriate re: all payroll related issues
  • Maintain vacation and sick hours for employees.
  • Responsible for Workers Comp, EEOC and other reporting requirements. 
  • Correspond timely with employees re: payroll questions/issues.
  • Regularly assist the Human Resources Manager regarding payroll related questions/issues that arise.

-  Accounting Related Duties:

  • Responsible for census reporting and payroll general ledger accounts (including audit recon). Create and enter payroll journal entries including reconciliations and reports.
  • Coordinate with managers/supervisors regarding accuracy of employees posting time worked. 
  • Responsible for federal and state audits.
  • Set up new states with all government agencies when employees are hired in a state that CC and its subsidiaries are not in. File annual reports with government agencies to keep current in all states.
  • Responsible for 401K administration, 5500 annual audit, and all other issues related to the 401K plan.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING/SKILLS

  • College degree in Accounting or equivalent work/educational background 
  • 2-3 years’ experience on computerized ADP software and Quickbooks
  • 5-7 years’ experience in payroll management
  • Proven administrative and organizational skills including ability to multitask
  • Strong customer service orientation and proven ability to work well with others 
  • Ability to use office equipment including: 
  • Telephone system, computer, copier, fax machine, postage machine, 10-key
  • Ability to work without supervision, yet open to receiving and following directions. 
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to focus on and understand complex details related to payroll and accounting tasks.
  • Must be dependable and take appropriate initiative to ensure tasks are completed properly and timely.
  • Extensive experience with the following: Windows XP, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet Explorer, QuickBooks
