Job Description

INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT MANAGER

The Infrastructure Project Manager will create and maintain information technology project plans that communicate tasks, milestone dates, and status and resource allocation. The Infrastructure PM will manage data center migrations, systems upgrades and implementations, and new business integrations. The PM will utilize technology life-cycle methodology, coordinate delivery of development and production releases that meet quality assurance standards, assist technical team in design and development tasks, and assist test team in creating test plans and testing efforts.

FUNCTIONAL AREA REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ensures project implementations and deployments are through the Project Management Office (PMO).

2. Manages projects with risk, complexity and visibility that relate to critical business goals.

3. Manages project deliverables, scope & expectations and coordinates project progress with sponsors, project boards, sponsors and key stakeholders.

4. Interfaces independently with all functional & business areas/ groups affected by the project, including senior and/or executive management.

5. Ensures adequate allocation of resources to projects being managed through constructive negotiations with functional resource managers.

6. Develops and tracks to detailed project plans, including schedules, cost estimates, resource plans, communication plans, risk mitigation plans and issue resolution plans.

7. Makes project decisions and recommendations to management about schedules, prioritization, and resource allocation with input from others as needed.

8. Provides communications and reports status to executives, business partners and all other stakeholders e.g., Status Reports, Executive Briefings, etc.

9. Employs project management best practices as governed by Equian’s Program Management Office’s based project management framework including its process definition, templates and tools.

10. Directly responsible for managing the project budget working closely with the PMO and/ or project sponsor to manage and report on the project financials – including the estimates created during the funding process, the ongoing allocation of financial resources and the regular reporting of the state of the project financials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Helps promote the value of project management to project stakeholders and enterprise constituents.

2. Successfully drives projects with a leadership vision through following tactical capabilities:

a. Leads the planning and scope development effort

b. Estimates cost, time and resource requirements

c. Defines project roles and responsibilities to support scope

d. Create and maintain project plan via Microsoft Project

e. Manages stakeholder expectations by emphasizing strong communication

f. Identifies, quantifies, responds to and controls project risks

g. Monitors and controls project progress and maintains standard metrics

h. Ensures defined quality standards are met

i. Closes projects on time, on budget, with high quality and captures lessons learned

3. Leads projects as the single point of managerial control for the identified business needs of their clients and stakeholders to help drive the delviery of solutions to business problems through management, control and resource planning.

4. Analyzes and validates organizational and/or operational requirements and user acceptance testing.

5. Lead technical team(s) in design and development tasks and assist test teams in efforts to create test plans, and ensure that the product quality meets set expectations.

6. Coordinate the delivery of development and production releases, making sure that quality assurance standards are met.

7. Create and maintain project plans to ensure timely completion of tasks, major project milestones, and resource allocation utilizing SDLC methodology.

8. Provide leadership and communications, both written and verbal, to ensure that the department stays fully linked internally and with the rest of the company or client.

9. Arranges, prepares and conducts meetings, workshops and presentations as required for a wide variety of audiences, demonstrating consistently high qualities of communication skills and plans and organizes the giving of presentations or training sessions to all levels including senior management.

10. Adherence to established best practices for systems application development, deployment, monitoring, security, disaster recovery, and backups.

11. Under minimal supervision assume primary responsibility for problem solving, support and maintenance of multiple Tier 1and Tier 2 incidents and projects.

12. Participate in the testing of disaster recovery processes.

13. Performs and evaluates cost analysis and vendor comparisons for projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations. Measures feasibility of various approaches and make recommendation(s).

14. Expected to follow strict change control management policies designed to ensure that proper planning, execution, and meticulous documentation for projects of all systems supported.

15. Maintain daily/weekly/monthly reports regarding projects, activities, and status of open requests and problems.

16. 24 x 7 on-call, some weekend and after hours work is required.

17. Performs other duties and special projects as required or assigned by management.

18. Responsibilities and duties may be added, deleted, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
