Job Description

We are currently seeking an Accounting Manager in our Washington DC headquarters.  Initially, you will assist in creating a world class accounting department and report directly to the Controller. There is a good deal of potential to grow with the company for the right person. The role will be focused on the following responsibilities: 

  • Provide hands on management of all general accounting functions, lead responsibility for all GL entries
  • Cash management which includes management of the company’s cash cycle, forecasting daily and future cash positions, investing idle cash, controlling bank fees, and safeguarding cash
  • Monthly and year-end close for parent entity and multiple sub-entities
  • Financial reporting, monthly variance analysis and preparation of financial statements
  • Review and approve all account reconciliations including bank statements, sub-ledger account reconciliations and credit cards
  • Interface with CPA firm for annual audit, preparation of audit schedules
  • Administration of sales tax filling
  • Enter, review, and post journal entries

 

 

Qualifications

  • Big 4 or Regional public accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a current  CPA certification is required; Masters in accounting preferred
  • Broad experience and understanding of GAAP accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years in either senior accountant or accounting manager role with company doing $50 million in revenue or more
  • Leadership ability to motivate and monitor the progress of all employees
  • Superior customer service ability and experience in handling vendors both over the phone and in person
  • Highly developed organizational ability with clear and consistent communication skills;  Ability to communicate effectively with employees when delegating work and explaining procedures and processes
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Positive attitude towards daily work, coworkers, and customers
  • Strong accounting systems skills for major modules including GL, AP, AR and fixed assets; Expert level Microsoft Excel capabilities
