Job Description
AECOM is currently hiring a Survey Technician to join a field crew based out of our Hunt Valley, MD office. This position will support transportation-related projects, including roadway, highway, and similar infrastructure assignments. The role offers the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative team on a variety of projects while gaining hands-on field experience in support of large-scale transportation initiatives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work directly with and under Party Chief on a survey crew
- Operate and maintain robotic total stations, GPS equipment, and Leica scanners
- Maintain survey crew equipment and inventory, ensuring all tools are in proper working condition
- Conduct ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys with accuracy and attention to detail
- Perform topographic, metes and bounds surveys, and establish control networks
- Interact professionally with Party Chief, Chief of Surveys, and survey team members
- Adhere to and maintain standards and specifications of project requirements
- Assist in data collection and field note documentation
- Perform basic calculations and data processing tasks
- Participate in safety briefings and adhere to all safety protocols
- Assist in the preparation of survey reports and drawings
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure project alignment
- Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements in surveying equipment and techniques
- May be required to perform out of town work at times
- Contribute to the development of junior team members through knowledge sharing and mentoring
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS degree plus 2 years of related experience, or AS Degree plus 4 years of related experience, or HS/GED plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency and/or education
- Due to the projects associated with this position, US Citizenship is required
- Valid US Driver’s License required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience working with Department of Transportation (DOT)
- Experience and/or/willingness to perform SHA and other public sector work
- Must have "team" attitude and communicate effectively
- Understand standards and specifications of project requirements
