Job Description

You will join the documentation team responsible for writing the online help and user documentation for our flagship product. This position requires strong technical writing skills and the ability to think like both a developer and a customer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Edit documents for accuracy and style.
  • Ensure all publication standards are met by following established procedures.
  • Write task-based end user documentation such as reference articles, getting started guides, and feature tutorials.
  • Maintain the context-sensitive help within our software program.
  • Work with developers and QA to test and document new features.
  • Create, maintain, and administer online training materials.
  • Respond to internal and external customers about online training or documentation needs.
  • Effectively manage your time across several projects and tasks.

Qualifications

  • 4 year college degree and at least two years of full time work experience. Outstanding attention to detail, especially with regard to grammar and formatting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to write for a diverse user base with varying levels of technical experience.
  • Good judgment, capacity to independently evaluate situations and identify the optimal course of action.
  • Intelligence, creativity, familiarity with web-based technologies, and the ability to rapidly learn a complex and wide-ranging program. We are looking for someone with an IQ in the top 2% of the population or better.

Desired Qualifications

  • One year of writing OR software experience.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, XML, and/or wiki syntax.
  • Experience with business software, databases, and/or web-based software.
  • Excellent procedural analysis, ability to create concise, task-based user documentation.
  • Experience with screen-capture video production.
  • Demonstrated initiative in seeking ways to contribute to the success of the company that go beyond a narrow definition of job responsibilities.
