Job Description
The Director of Student Support Services (School-based) at ARISE Schools is the
- Special Education (SPED) Program Coordinator and Compliance Manager
- RtI Coordinator for Academics and Behavior
- 504 Coordinator
- SPED Team Instructional Coach
- Alternate Testing Coordinator
The DSSS serves as a standing member of numerous committees and is on the School Leadership Team.
Leadership
- Provide a place where team members are trusted, trained, and coached in order to lead with the mission and implement the vision of ARISE Schools
Scholar and Family Culture
- Create an environment that demands scholar excellence and academic achievement through consistency and enthusiasm
Staff Culture
- Create an environment of achievement, respect, innovation, service and enthusiasm
Planning and Preparation for Learning
- Strategically target instruction through thoughtful choices for staffing, content, methods, materials, and environment
Professional Development, Observation, and Feedback
- Develop teachers through targeted support for growth that leads to student achievement
Data Driven Instruction
- Target instruction that immediately, and over time, responds to scholar needs through the use of assessment results and progress monitoring
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have:
• At least three to five years (3 to 5 years) of experience as Special Education Lead Teacher and
Case Management
• At least one year (1 year) of school leadership
• At least three years (3 years) of experience in a charter school - Preferred
Well qualified applicants will have
• Experience leading and coaching teams, and collaborating across departments
• Proven, demonstrated achievement in the areas of Leadership; Scholar and Family Culture; Staff Culture; Planning and Preparation for Learning; Professional Development, Observation, and Feedback; and Data Driven Instruction
• Advanced communication and professional skills, and a willingness to learn school administrative programs
Requirements
• Bachelor Degree – Required; Master in Education – Preferred
• Certification: Special Education, Louisiana Department of Education
• Willingness to grow, receptive to feedback
• Strong drive and work ethic
• Strong organizational skills
• This position requires someone who is flexible, a team player, and easily adapts to new/challenging situations.
