Job Description

The Business Operations Manager will work directly with the COOs and CFO to develop and implement strategies to ensure efficient and effective business operations within the supply chain in Uganda. They will plan, direct, implement, organize and manage the processes and functions of the Social Business Team. They will also work independently to perform analyses and to aid in the financial control of the Uganda business team. The Business Operations Manager will provide active leadership to develop new and existing business strategies to support the fast-paced growth of Akola Project's social business in alignment with Akola Project's mission. This is a leadership position that oversees all Social Business Team staff in Uganda. This position will require a strong connection with the mission of Akola Project and a willingness to give a complete effort for the organization to meet its development goals. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Operations Management

• Manage all activities of the Social Business Team; direct the development of and ensure alignment with overall business strategy 

• Identify opportunities for process improvement, develop recommendations, and convert recommendations into compelling new plans

• Coordinate and manage the Social Business Team's financial projections and budgeting processes and take ownership and responsibility for overall profit and loss management

• Work with the Finance Manager to implement manufacturing accounting

• Oversee all supply chain processes including material and product tracking/reporting systems

• Serve as the senior contact for all business operations matters for the Akola Project Uganda office

• Establish and continually enhance metrics used to measure performance; set strategies to address performance gaps

• Work with COOs and CFO to ensure efficient and effective business operations


Growth Strategy Development

• Develop strategies to meet rapidly increasing production demands while prioritizing women's empowerment and the mission of Akola Project

• Think strategically about and plan for Akola Project's future development, growth, and expansion 

• Work with management to develop donor/investment proposals for growth and assist with donor reporting

• Maintain constant communication with Akola Project's US to stay informed of upcoming growth opportunities, ensuring that business strategies and contingencies are able to absorb projected production output needs


Leadership

• Lead Akola Project staff and beneficiaries in a way that facilitates a high performance egalitarian culture of learning and development, trust and integrity

• Seek understanding with and unified leadership alongside the leadership team in the spiritual development, social development and economic development of Akola Project women and involvement in Uganda

• Serve as an active advocate for Akola Project, promoting the vision, mission, and goals of the organization amongst the community at all times to ensure the organization maintains a positive public standing


Administration

• Produce a manual upon the expiration of your contract that includes contact information, logistics descriptions, research findings, exercise reports, and any other data and notes necessary for future staff to succeed in this role 

• Assist with other Akola Project programs as needed 


Qualifications

This position requires an experienced, entrepreneurial individual with the proven ability to build executive business strategies, including growth and expansion plans.  

• Minimum of Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; MBA or equivalent preferred

• Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in business operations

• Supply Chain Management experience highly desirable

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Passion for holistic development in East Africa
