This intern position is responsible for assisting the Research Engineer(s) in the R&D Advanced Development department.  The Research Engineer Intern will work closely on an individual research project while helping assist ongoing projects.  The successful candidate is a creative and innovative thinker, motivated by curiosity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist material and biomechanical engineers in laboratory bench testing
  • Work independently on summer research project and create a final presentation to share with the team.
  • Work in a fast paced environment and meet critical deadlines.
  • Follows all departmental and company procedures as indicated in quality, administrative, or other systems.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.  Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

  • Self-motivated with hands-on approach to laboratory studies
  • Team player, strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, thoroughness, attention to detail.       

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (in progress) in Mechanical Engineering preferred.  Other scientific and engineering disciplines considered.
  • Laboratory experience
  • Experience with 3-D modeling using SolidWorks.
  • Experience with Geomagic, Matlab preferred.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping processes and material characterization testing preferred.
    • 10-12 week summer internship during regular business hours
