Job Description

SUMMARY

The Sr. Revenue Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accurate recording of revenue transactions in accordance with US GAAP. The Sr. Analyst will have a strong knowledge of revenue recognition accounting in a multi-element environment. This position will calculate and record the deferred revenue entries, help manage the revenue close process and help calculate and analyze the estimates used in the deferred revenue calculations. The Sr. Analyst must be familiar with revenue management systems and reporting tools. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Revenue Accounting.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for the monthly and quarterly close processes for deferred revenue including the preparation of monthly account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Assist in the management of the revenue close process.
  • Responsible for the calculation of the revenue deferrals for product sales.
  • Responsible for the calculation of estimates used in the calculation of deferred revenue
  • Responsible for the preparation and analysis of the data used for the calculation of deferred revenue.
  • Understand and respond to all aspects of the revenue accounting process including identification and resolution of issues using system inquiry and analytical skills.
  • Respond to audit requests and support SOX compliance.
  • Help prepare monthly deferred revenue and revenue metrics.
  • Be knowledgeable about the authoritative revenue pronouncements including EITF 08-1, SAB 104, EITF 01-9 and 00-21, and overall understanding of general accounting concepts and requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Technical Revenue Accounting
  • Foster proactive working relationships with cross-functional organizations including AR, Operations, Marketing, Sales, FP&A, IT, and Cost Accounting.
  • Participate in new product launch and system enhancement teams as necessary by attending meetings, communicating new product information to team members and testing.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting
  • At least 7+ years of General Accounting or Public Accounting experience is required with an emphasis in Revenue Accounting
  • Public Accounting experience is a plus
  • Strong working of US GAAP knowledge, with emphasis on SOP 97-2, EITF 08-01 and 09-03 and other revenue recognition accounting literature
  • Accounting experience with high tech companies a plus
  • Experience with Order to Cash cycle in an ERP system
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tool
  • Advanced Excel skills, PowerPivot preferred

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

  • CPA preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.  Ability to communicate and resolve issues in a direct and concise manner with poise and tact.  Written communications should be detailed and thorough.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Candidate should be detailed oriented and have a solid understanding of financial statements and integrated financial systems. 

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to understand and effectively apply technical accounting guidance centered around revenue recognition.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Use of computer for extended periods.

 

WORK SCHEDULES / HOURS:  Business operations hours; and may involve additional time as project timelines required.
