Job Description

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required
  • Prepare layouts and patterns using measuring tools, including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work to measure and mark materials on new installs and retrofit work
  • Load and unload construction materials and move to appropriate work stations
  • Set up and operate woodworking equipment
  • Repair and maintain doors, floors, windows, partitions, ceilings, and exteriors of buildings; builds and installs door and window framing
  • Measure, cut, shape, trim, assemble materials and components using hand and power tools
  • Erect walls and roof systems
  • Attach previously fabricated walls ceilings and floors together
  • Attach exterior building completions including metal siding and steel fabricated items
  • Build wooden/steel structures such as partitions, buildings, office additions from rough-in to final finishes
  • Installs locks, door knobs, and other building hardware
  • Perform hand and bench work in carpentry work shop; operate planers, joiners, drill   presses, power saws, sanders, and other woodworking machinery
  • Assist with minor electrical and plumbing work
  • Able to work out in the field on camp setups, warranty related issues or re-work and in shop with other departments
  • Maintain hand tools, saws, and other carpentry tools
  • Be able to work in the field on camp setups, warranty related issues or re-work
  • Other duties as assigned


  • A strong commitment to safety and a safety leader
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications and work from sketches
  • Ability to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools and materials
  • Ability to plan, lay out, and perform carpentry work of average difficulty
  • Proficient with a measuring tape
  • Knowledge of cabinet-making techniques
  • Skilled in the construction, repair, restoration, and installation of wood or related material
  • Ability to estimate time and materials needed for  assigned work projects
  • Possess some or all certificates in H2S, First Aid CPR, CSTS/PSTS, OSSA, Man Lift, All Terrain Fork Lift, Fall Arrest, Confined Space Entry & Rescue, Confined Space Monitor would be considered an asset
  • Position requires 1 year or more experience within residential construction and renovations
  • Valid class 5 drivers license and supply current drivers abstract
  • Flexible to assist with minor electrical and plumbing work
  • Must be able to work independently or in a group / team setting as an effective learner / listener      
  • Have good interpersonal, technical and strong English communication skills
    Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Additional Information

Year round full time employment. Must have vehicle to commute to Nisku.  Application process required pre-employment drug, alcohol and physical testing.
