Job Description

  • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or shop drawings to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required
  • Prepare layouts and patterns using measuring tools, including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work to measure and mark materials
  • Installation of plumbing in modular units from rough-in to finishing
  • Installation of water lines, drainage, fixtures and venting systems
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors.
  • Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
  • Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, soldering or brazing
  • Assist with minor electrical and carpentry work
  • Able to work out in the field on camp setups, warranty related issues or re-work and in shop with other departments
  • Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing, water supply network and drainage systems
  • Troubleshooting and testing of all plumbing fixtures and systems in the modular units
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • A strong commitment to safety and a safety leader
  • Currently registered and in good standing with the Alberta Apprenticeship Board in the Plumbing program
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications and work from sketches
  • Proficient and able to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools and materials required of the trade
  • Must be able to work independently or in a group/team setting as an effective learner / listener
  • Skilled in the residential construction, repair, restoration and installation techniques for assigned work projects
  • Ability to plan, lay out, and perform install of units on site
  • Ability to estimate time and materials needed for assigned work projects
  • Ability to work in a physical demanding position and a fast paced team environment
  • Ability to work in an outdoor and indoor confined work area environment
  • Ability to work out of town on rotational shifts when required
  • Current certificates in Hours of Service, H2S, First Aid CPR, CSTS/PSTS, OSSA, Man Lift, All Terrain Fork, Fall Arrest, Confined Space Entry & Rescue, Confined Space Monitor would be considered an asset
  • Position requires 3 years or more experience within residential construction and renovations
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Provide current Commercial Drivers Abstract outlining last 5 years driving history
  • Familiar with North of 60° Federal Hours of Service Regulations
  • Familiar in completing Driver Log Book
  • Familiar in completing Daily Vehicle Inspections Report
  • Position requires vehicle to commute to Nisku
  • Position requires strong English communication skills, including written, spoken and comprehension
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
