Job Description
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to advance the development of a novel microfluidics instrument designed to automate Next Generation Sequencing library preparation
- Design and run experiments in a laboratory setting.
- Analyze data via statistical methods and visualize resulting data.
- Characterize the performance of disposable injection-molded microfluidics cartridges.
- Design experiments to miniaturize and optimize specific sub-routines in the workflow.
- Refine and optimize automated scripts used to control pumps, valves, heaters, optics, and more.
Qualifications
- Minimum of junior level B.S. in Biomedical Engineering or Biochemistry
- Strong emphasis on engineering or medical device design
- Proficiency with laboratory techniques such as multi-pipetting, magnetic bead purifications, PCR, and qPCR.
- Familiar with testing and documentation methodologies
- Experience with statistics and the design of experiment (DOE) approach
- Strong desire to be part of a dynamic, growing, and mission driven company
- Driven to thrive in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment
- Ability to set a project plan and work within an interdisciplinary team, as well as independently, to meet goals
- Excellent ability to multi-task
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Familiarity with microfluidics or lab-on-a-chip systems.
Additional Information
This is a full time internship position expected to last approximately four months, looking to fill quickly. Pay is $15 per hour.
