Job Description

Our client is a leading provider of software applications for environmental conservation efforts. They are looking for an innovative hands-on Technical Architect to join their team in their downtown Portland office. THIS IS A DIRECT PLACEMENT/FULL TIME POSITION (NOT CONTRACT). The successful candidate will get to work with like-minded folks on cutting-edge web, mobile and cloud applications that help protect and restore our natural world.

This person will be completing complex software development tasks within our Conservation Management practice area. In addition to hands-on software development, this architect is expected to take an active leadership role within the team to ensure software achieves performance, quality, and functional expectations while meeting project milestones.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant job experience
  • B.S. degree or better in computer science or another related engineering/scientific field
  • Experience with the following technologies

               o  Java 8

               o  Spring/Spring Boot

               o  Maven

               o  Tomcat

               o  SQL/Microsoft SQL Server

               o  Node/NPM

               o  Typescript

               o  Angular 7+ or comparable frontend framework

               o  Docker

  • Proficiency in languages, frameworks and patterns necessary to build full stack web applications
  • Experience working with GIS/Geospatial data
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team
  • Enjoys engaging and interacting with clients
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, Javascript, and all things HTTP
  • Experience in Java or other similar object-oriented languages
  • Familiar with relational database design and deployment strategies
  • Collaborative self-starter who thrives in a team setting with frequent pair programming
  • Quick learner dedicated to continuous improvement
  • Focused on software quality and exceeding clients' needs

Nice to have:

Experience or familiarity with the following technologies

              o WMS/WFS services

              o Maven

              o Bootstrap 4

              o Leaflet.js

  • Background in consulting or professional services
  • Experience, interest, or education in Natural Sciences and the environment
  • SQL Server
  • Agile development experience
  • GIS (especially ArcGIS) and interactive web mapping
