Job Description

Full-Time Cook Bi-Weekly Schedule:

Week 1: 

  • Monday: 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Tuesday: 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Thursday: 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Friday: 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Saturday: 6:00am-2:30pm

Week 2: 

  • Sunday: 6:00am-2:30pm
  • Monday: 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Tuesday: 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Thursday: 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Friday: 8:00am-4:30pm

Description:

The primary purpose of the Cook is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Dietary Director, to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.

  1. Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  2. Must be knowledgeable of food procedures.
  3. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  4. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  5. Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.  
  6. Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
  7. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

  8. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

 

Qualifications

  1. Must possess a high school or equivalent education.
  2. Cook: One (1) year cooking experience in a restaurant, health care or senior services setting.  
  3. Chef: Two (2) years cooking experience in a restaurant, health care or senior services setting or completed culinary training/certification or vocational training/certification in commercial food preparation.
  4. Knowledge of state and federal food-handling regulations (Serve Safe Certification). Must possess knowledge of food service operations.
  5. Demonstrated compatibility with AH&S's mission and operating philosophies.
  6. Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
