Job Description

Job Tasks and Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer your main functions/tasks will be:

Participate in system design

  • Development of the detail engineering for conveyor baggage handling systems or parcel sortation systems.
  • Coordination of the mechanical scope in projects;
  • Advise and reviews projects in the sales phase (evaluate compliance matrix)
  • Translate and optimize the as sold functionality to a working mechanical design within the budget available in co-operation with other engineering disciplines (Electrical, LLC, HLC, Installation, etc.)
  • Coordinate phasing installation layouts.
  • Coordinate steelwork design.
  • Integrate design rules for safety and ergonomics in design.
  • Deliver mechanical design documentation for customer approval.
  • Coordinate building interfaces (space requirements, architectural & structural interfaces, building services, accessibility for O&M, safety and security, etc.)
  • Coordinate interfaces for procurement items.
  • Coordinate operator interfaces.

Participate in detailed design

  • Create / generate the equipment list as input for hard- and software engineering.
  • Specify mechanical equipment and peer review specifications of other engineers.
  • Coordinate and specify resale equipment (standard and special).
  • Archive mechanical deliverables.

Organize supply

  • Define activity split up based on installation areas, PLC areas and model split-up.
  • If needed makes forecasts of necessary equipment.
  • Define and monitor mechanical work packages.

Plan, report and lead a team

  • Regularly reports to / updates PM or engineers.
  • Create detailed mechanical planning from overall project planning and synchronize plan with other disciplines
  • Lead layout engineer(s) and mechanical engineer(s)

Manage budget

  • Deliver scope with predictable quality in time and within budget.
  • Independently make estimates of budgets, engineering hours and a planning for mechanical (part) project during sales phase.

Support Site

  • Create and manage installation files
  • Handle site problem reports, open points, etc.
  • Create extra material specifications when need it.
  • Supports the installation and commissioning teams on site when need it.
  • Processes as-built documentation from site

Continuous improvement

  • Initiates improvements in content, process and tooling.
  • Feeds back lessons learned from the project into product, process and tooling.
  • Supports head of engineering department.
  • Tutors new engineers.

Qualifications

Desired skills and knowledge

As a Mechanical Engineer within BEUMER Group Spain, we are looking for a person with the follow experience and skills:

  • Bachelors or master's degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Preferably knowledge of Mechatronics, Mechanics or Industrial.
  • Preferably working experience as project engineer, lead engineer or product engineer.
  • More than 3 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Strong skills in CAD programs (AutoCAD, Solid Edge, Tekla, PLM, PDM, etc.) and office computer systems.
  • Strong language skills in English, both verbal and written. German is a plus.
  • Willing to travel local or internationally.
  • Strong analytical skills, the ability to use logistic skills in analysing and understanding customer processes, creating concept solutions.
  • Strong communicational skills to build professional client relationships.
  • Ability to work within an international environment.
  • Leadership and ability to take decisions.
  • Organized and methodical.
  • Driving Licence.
