General Responsibility

The Application Engineer position, located in Somerset, NJ, is a hands-on job requiring excellent organizational and communication skills. The application engineer performs system design engineering, estimating and develops technical proposal content in accordance with company policies and procedures.  This position works closely with Sales to provide technical solutions that provide operational and business benefits to clients.  This position offers the opportunity for substantial career development.                       

Responsibilities

• Become a subject matter expert on BEUMER products and applications.
• Analyzing of customer requirements
• Design and development of solutions, using 2D and 3D CAD
• Consulting with Sales, Engineering, and Sofware/Controls departments on system designs.
• Detailed cost estimates, including developing RFPs to vendors and  analyzing responses
• Technical writing (proposals, scope documents, process flows)
• Develop tools and aid in process development
• Attend conference calls and on-site meetings with clients as necessary
• Work with Sales to transition a proposal to an order
• May be assigned other tasks, as needed

Requirements/Skills and Abilities

Required:

• BS/BA degree preferable in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 2 to 5 years of experience in a technical sales or engineering environment
• Excellent time management skills; with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Professional, positive, and energetic attitude
• High degree of computer literacy, including use of various software tools; Proficiency in MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook
• Proficient in 2D and 3D modeling CAD programs. AutoCAD and SolidEdge preferred.
• Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent listening skills resulting in a high level of customer satisfaction. Must be able to listen for opportunities as well as potential technical hurdles.
• General: Able to set and meet goals; sincere care for others; overwhelming desire to win and to be part of a winning team; able to travel, predominantly in North America will occasional international trips.

 Desired:

• Technical experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous: experience in Warehousing & Distribution, order fulfillment systems, parcel handing systems automated system design and analysis.
• Advanced knowledge in MS Excel (VBA Programming)
• Advance knowledge of AutoCAD including Dynamic Blocks, Lisp, and VBA programming
