Job Description

General Responsibility

The Junior Purchasing Agent communicates with suppliers regarding purchasing supplies, equipment and service contracts in order to obtain the most cost effective and quality products for dedicated projects.  You will also communicate with a wide variety of personnel to ensure availability, expense control and mutually beneficial relationships. This position offers the opportunity for substantial career development and will work closely with Finance, Engineering, Project Management and Procurement Management. 

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of US-wide procurement activities in close cooperation with local Project Management and BEUMER entities.
  • Prepare purchase orders for a variety of commodities, services, and equipment in close cooperation with the Project Team and local entities. Documents and traces Project specific data.
  • Support the development and maintenance of documents for bidding processes, on all required commodities, in accordance with BEUMER Standards and Project requirements and in close cooperation with technical teams.  
  • Receive, review and prepare quotations and other supporting documentation
  • Support the Sales and Cost Estimation teams
  • Document and report purchasing activities to Strategic Procurement Director, Finance and Project Management.
  • Participate in project and procurement meetings
  • Maintain a Project Procurement Plan and consult with Estimation, Engineering and Project Management on required purchases.
  • Support shipping activities. Create shipping documents in SAP and carrier software, schedule pick-ups and coordinate shipments.
  • Support weekly cycle inventory counts
  • May be assigned special projects or required to perform other duties, as required

Qualifications

Requirements/Skills and Abilities

Required: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business or Equivalent.
  • 1-5 years of experience in a hands-on purchasing role
  • High degree of computer literacy, including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritizing and manage time effectively
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to get along well with diverse personalities
  • Professional, positive and energetic demeanor
  • Must be relatable to business partners inside and outside the organization; with the ability to easily build a rapport that fosters productive business relationships while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to travel, if needed

Desired:

  • SAP or equivalent ERP systems experience.
  • CPM Certification or equivalent is a plus
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous: project management, quality management, logistics, distribution, airports, material handling or sortation.
