Job Description

Reporting to the Group General Counsel and functionally to the Chief Human Resources Officer, in close collaboration with the HR Leaders, the Labor Law Counsel is the primary legal advisor for HR
matters in Europe, partnering with the HR team to
provide legal advice regarding employment and labor-related issues, policies, and programs to HR professionals.


  1. Main Responsibilities/Tasks

     Individual labor law


  • Develops and manages the company strategy on employment contracts, and other employment matters related to employees who are recruited in Europe or moving internationally from Europe, by partnering with senior human resources leaders, and the mobility team if needed


  • Serves as the in-house legal expert for HR team on any European employment and labor
    law matters, and more particularly
    on various topics such as employment contracts, mobility, disciplinary matters, amicable termination and settlements, restructuring, working time, due diligence, compliance, assistance and representation for all employment lawsuits;

  • Acts as the company point of contact with external labor lawyers (when needed) while ensuring strong savings on these external services


Collective labor law


  • Provides support to senior HR leaders to develop and implement Labor relations strategies for the sites located in France mainly, and in Europe when needed; through planning and coordination of the collective bargining process including all pre-negotiations preparation and discussions; supplying information and proposed changes;

  • Help HR Managers to write collective agreements in compliance with law

        *   Participates when needed and required by Senior HR leaders to the collective agreements
negotiations and supports site management in its interaction with unions representatives when required

  • Partners with site management and senior HR leaders to support the overall organizational developent efforts and to respond efficiently to continous organization change.


  • Acts as the Company labor law expert at various meetings with management and when appropriate with unions/employee representatives;


Communication/Process


  • Audits, informs and enforces any process improvement to lower/mitigate individuals or
    collective risks for BIC.

  • Provides newsletter and regular legal updates to the HR community on all HR related
    subjects

  • Provides training to ensure that managers/ HR teams have the skills needed to manage the
    labor law risks proactively.




Qualifications

  • Master’s degree Labor Law/Labor Relations;

  • 8-10 years Labor Law experience, ideally with a mix of experience in Law firm and in
    a unionized manufacturing business environment;

  • Demonstrated background in the preparation and support to collective bargaining agreements

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;

  • High degree of business and industrial acumen;

  • Ability to work, communicate, decide and deliver under time deadline;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, bilinguial French-English;
