BZ Media, a fast-growing media company based on Long Island, is looking for a full-time Business Development Associate.  The role of the Business Development Associate will be to help build our market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships within the red-hot market for commercial drones (also known as UAS, UAV, and Unmanned Systems).


Job Description

The InterDrone Business Development Associate will work directly with the President of BZ Media, our Media Partnership Manager and the show team to grow InterDrone and related properties into the largest commercial drone conference and exposition in North America and then the world. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a salesperson to take their career to the next level.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identifying trending ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; discerning who the industry movers and shakers are and developing relationships with them.
  • Sales of exhibits and sponsorships for InterDrone, being held September 9-10-11, 2015 in Las Vegas
  • Selling sponsorships in the InterDrone News e-newsletter and other drone market properties as they are created.
  • Building and maintaining a detailed database of prospects in Salesforce.
  • Closing new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; and effectively communicating contract requirements with our operations teams.
  • Protecting or organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updating and maintaining job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations and online forums.

Qualifications

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Four year degree preferably in Business Management or Marketing
  • 2- 3 years sales experience, preferably within the events & exhibition industry
  • Customer-Service Oriented
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • Active involvement with Twitter, LinkedIn, other social media and forums
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • High Energy level and motivation for selling and for closing business
  • Sales prospecting, planning, and database building
  • Passion for the Drone, UAS, UAV, and Unmanned Systems market
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time visiting customers in their offices and at  competitive trade shows 

Additional Information

This full-time position is based in BZ Media's Melville, N.Y. headquarters office, and the candidate must live within easy commute range of the office. Telecommuting is not an option for this position. Passion, demonstrated sales success and closing ability will be more highly valued than specific experience.
