Job Description

Summary:

Hatch and Bantrel have formed the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) to execute engineering and construction on the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. After successfully completing the Definition Phase Study for the project, the HBJV is currently carrying out the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published TIC of US $5.3-5.7 Billion this will represent one of the largest projects and private investments in Canada. The HBJV will use a hybrid of best-in-class new developing technologies and systems as well as the proven HBJV suite of tools to execute this exciting project.

The non process infrastructure (NPI) - building superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing NPI – building services operations on the project. The NPI – building services scopeof work (SoW) includes the for the design, fabrication, delivery, construction, and commissioning of the non-process infrastructure (NPI) design and build buildings. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budget. Supervises and directs contractor activities in an EPCM environment, manages subordinate superintendents and others, as assigned. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.

* Please note this position is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living out allowance. This will be a camp position on a 14 day on 7 day off  rotation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for field construction operations within assigned area.
  • Determines manpower requirements. Coordinates established area operational plans. Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
  • Prepares schedules, construction methods and procedures.
  • Supervises and directs subordinate personnel and crafts personnel in construction activities within assigned area.
  • Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, job manpower forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
  • Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Responsible for the implementation of corporate / project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas, and clients’ resident representatives as instructed by construction management.
  • Performs personnel evaluations on subordinate personnel.
  • Ensures that all Bantrel, federal provincial and regional safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Adheres to all field job instructions and Bantrel Construction Procedures while maintaining the corporate code of ethics.

 

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Experience executing large scale heavy industrial construction projects and understands that safety and quality is paramount.
  • Knowledge of a single or multidiscipline construction or engineering operations and of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
  • A recognized degree in an Engineering / Scientific discipline or a Technical College diploma from accredited institutions; or specialized courses in construction technology and management; and/or work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years’ experience in a similar role
