Job Description

Summary:

Hatch and Bantrel have formed the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) to execute engineering and construction on the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. After successfully completing the Definition Phase Study for the project, the HBJV is currently carrying out the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published TIC of US $5.3-5.7 Billion this will represent one of the largest projects and private investments in Canada. The HBJV will use a hybrid of best-in-class new developing technologies and systems as well as the proven HBJV suite of tools to execute this exciting project. 

The Senior Supplier Quality Specialist (SQS) is responsible for Supplier Quality (SQ) activities within Procurement.  Applies broad and diversified knowledge of Procurement expertise to projects or initiatives in the performance of specialized and complex activities.  Considered to be proficient in all areas of SQ, this person does not supervise or manage other personnel within the group functional group.

The SQS administers SQ activities including shop quality surveillance and coordinates third party agency personnel.  The SQS reviews specifications, reviews and distributes quality surveillance reports, and communicates project direction and coordinates between project and Supplier Quality Representatives.  The SQS executes area SQ functions including capability surveys, audits and area/shop quality surveillance, within limits of individual certification.

The SQS supports Bantrel’s Vision by demonstrating Bantrel’s Values, and Covenants in all functional, company wide, client and third-party interactions and communications.

* Please note this position is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living out allowance. This will be a camp position on a 14 day on 7 day off  rotation.

In this full-time permanent role, as a champion of diversity & inclusion, you will:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plans and implements division of responsibility for complex project SQ activities; performs specific procurement SQ activities and monitors performance by technical and non-technical support staff.
  • Coordinates and interfaces with the day-to-day work of project team members   
  • Promotes the creation of a work environment supported by good work ethics, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation and satisfaction
  • Reviews scope of SQ participation for assigned project and completes development of cost of services estimate.  Obtains project team approval of cost of services budget.  Monitors expenditures against approved budgets and review any necessary budget adjustment with the project team.
  • Reviews material requisitions including technical specifications with respect to quality requirements and participates with Engineering in determination of levels of surveillance required, including establishment of witness and hold points.
  • Participates in the development of the final bid list and the selection of recommended suppliers
  • Participates in the pre-award and post-award conferences with suppliers
  • Prepares and issues quality surveillance, capability survey and audit assignments for execution
  • Advises interested parties of technical and quality issues reported in area/shop Quality Surveillance Reports; monitors dispositions and corrections made to assure documented evidence of satisfactory closeout
  • Facilitates communication between on and off project personnel across disciplines/ provides project direction to assigned SQR's; participates in resolution of technical and quality issues arising from area/shop SQ activities
  • Initiates Supplier Advisories or Warnings when supplier performance and /or situation fall within the defined structure of Corporate Supplier Quality Manual directions for such action
  • Attends specific shop visits on project behalf - performs selected SQ activities and assists/monitors activities of assigned SQR's

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in the construction, fabrication and/or manufacturing of petrochemical equipment and facilities
  • Experienced on EPC Projects
  • Fosters a positive and collaborative work culture and champion the Vision, Values and Covenants by leading by example
  • Unquestionable ethics and integrity and a high degree of Emotional Intelligence
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate with Stakeholders including Clients, Senior Leaders and frontline employees
