Job Description

As a Database Developer at Beatport you will work on a 5 to 7 member, cross-functional Agile Scrum team (APP, UI, QA, IT, and of course DB specialties) building solutions to address business and technology needs. You will apply your knowledge and expertise with MySQL Database development and Data warehousing solutions in a LAMP environment on a daily basis. Developers are encouraged to work with teammates to solve complex problems outside of their specialization where appropriate.

You will also take part in planning sessions at the beginning of each 2 week sprint cycle where you will be responsible for planning, tasking, and estimating user stories. At the end of each iteration you will be involved with release demos where your team shares with the company work completed within the iteration. We have a highly collaborative environment where the team works together with their Product Expert and Stakeholders to define product solutions. Everyone has the opportunity to contribute to our products and share the success of releasing valuable features on a regular basis.

Qualifications

To land this job you'll need to have:

  1. 5 + years of relevant experience MySQL Development, Data Warehousing
  2. A solid understanding of PHP and Open Source solutions
  3. A detailed understanding of performance tuning
  4. Process experience with security, environment management, and capacity planning
  5. Proven Object Oriented experience
  6. Understanding of Test Driven Development
  7. Proven experience in software design and architecture
  8. Confidence with Linux, Python, Javascript
  9. Familiarity with software release procedures and requirements
  10. Knowledge of a variety of general web technologies (HTML. AJAX, XML, JSON, etc.)
  11. A proven ability to work with others to efficiently tackle teamwork-oriented tasks

And it will be an added bonus if you've got:

  1. Experience working with Agile methodologies
  2. Experience working with Python
  3. Interest and expertise with a variety of Open Source solutions
  4. An ability to effectively document and present technical concepts
