Job Description

The Senior BI Analyst will utilize their experience to manage Beatport’s data visualization platform as well as working with business users, managers and stakeholders to gather and analyze information requirements. The role will analyze data, build reports and create information deliverables that provide insight and understanding into key business processes. The position will pro-actively identify and communicate new needs, gaps and analysis techniques that continually expand the information services & delivery models of the organization. This role will be an integral component of the organization's Finance department, but will work with the entire organization delivering Business Information and analytics that provide insight into business processes and enable management make more informed decisions.


Some of the typical job responsibilities include:

Work with the Finance department, as well as Marketing, Music Services & Operations, to supply both raw data and data analysis providing further insights into the business’ performance.


Create and deliver management level reporting that reveals business trends, anomalies and helps answer the questions ‘What is happening?’ and 'Why?'


Metadata management, data governance and data quality


Use various tools and techniques to analyze the data in order to answer specific business problems, discover unasked questions and opportunities, find relevance (statistical, predictive, etc.) across data


Formulate best-practice methodologies that blend customer requirements with product capabilities


Provide overall BI technical leadership on architectural decisions, best practices, coding standards, and implementation of design patterns.

Provide continual input to the functionality of the BI software and suggest future technological enhancements


Develop Data Products for ongoing use for internal and external customers; prepare reports and presentations for Beatport leadership team to support your analysis


Collaborate and cultivate information requirements from internal and external clients


Provide quality assurance on deliverables to ensure consistent and accurate information that meets or exceeds expectations


Assist in the creation of technical and functional documentation and requirements


Establish & maintain strong relationships within the organization


Work in close partnership with the Infrastructure team to ensure the most efficient use of database resources.


Be self starter and find data driven answers to questions nobody has yet thought to ask.


To land this job you’ll need to have:

Strong presentation and interpersonal skills , comfortable problems solving and recommending solutions to end users at all levels of the organization


Experience leading communities of practice, including training and certification


Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.


Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment


Experience working with multiple data-management systems (Oracle, MySQL, Netezza, DB2, Teradata)


3-5 years relevant experience in a role involving information analysis & various forms of report deliverables


2-3 years experience in SQL


Certified MicroStrategy Developer


Must be able to exhibit tact, diplomacy and maintain professional relationships


Proven track record to both meet deadlines and manage expectations


Ability to translate reporting requirements into valuable business solutions

Strong experience using Microsoft Excel and formulas (VBA is a plus)

Ability to work both independently and participate as a member of a cross-functional team


Detail oriented and ability to see and interpret patterns


Keen ability to learn an organization's business


Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills


Excellent written and oral communication skills


Excellent presentation skills


Maintains a "do what it takes" attitude



And it will be an added bonus if you’ve got:


Experience with MicroStrategy Mobile, Architect, Desktop, Documents, and Visual Insight


Financial and/ or Marketing background or exposure


Experience with writing requirements
