Job Description

The Vice President of Marketing at Beatport will be responsible for driving sales and growth as the organization evolves from being the leading digital electronic music storefront into a multi-faceted media property. The Vice President of Marketing will lead all marketing efforts, with particular focus on strategy, customer acquisition & retention, execution of brand strategy, campaigns, and market research to drive customers to the Beatport site. This role will be an integral member of a cross-functional executive team and will report directly to the COO.

 

Specific job duties include:

  • Drive customer acquisition strategy.
  • Increase the value of customer through CRM; identify customer segments to improve targeting with relevant messages and promotions; identify goals for acquisition, retention, and repeat rates; develop strategies to deliver against goals.
  • Oversee the execution of strategic brand plans to expand sales and revenue targets.
  • Promote and build the Beatport brand through the diversification of services provided.
  • Assist in the development of offerings to Beatport users, both professionals and consumers, to evolve the company into a broader media entity.
  • Drive community efforts by enhancing the connectivity between DJs and fans.
  • Work closely with the technology team to ensure that the brand and technology platform are working cohesively to provide top tier product experience.
  • Help diversify and run current and future business divisions.
  • Continue Beatport's development into a prestige and aspiration brand, one that marries market convenience and a superior brand experience. 
  • Service Beatport's professional talent (DJs) and help them expand their brands through music sales and online community development and enhancement.
  • Manage not just the company's brand, but its penetration into existing and new markets.
  • Manage the creative design function as a service group for the rest of the organization.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key community and strategic partners.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent corporate image throughout all web properties, products, and promotional materials.
  •  Act as the primary interface and coordinate all relationships and communication with marketing agencies and media partners.
  • Track, analyze and report ROI results from all marketing promotions and initiatives.
  • Plan and oversee advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media, and email marketing; create media planning and tracking systems, and serve as liaison with outside agencies and vendors on promotional campaigns.
  • Oversee and evaluate market research and adjust marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions as well as monitor competitive products and marketing activities.
  • Guide preparation of marketing activity reports and present to executive management.
  • Be responsible for hiring and performance management for the Marketing department.

Qualifications

To land this job you’ll need to have:

  • 15+​ years of marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management and supervisory role.
  • A true collaborative personality-someone who is honest, transparent and fearless.
  • Service oriented focus with the goal of creating a unique and engaging consumer experience.
  • Ability to develop, plan and implement short and long-range goals with the flexibility needed to shift directions as the business environment demands.
  • Experience working with a software development team.
  • Effective staff leadership and motivation skills.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience building a top online brand.
  • A very hands-on, positive can-do attitude, to reflect the company’s culture.
  • Relevant experience with an e-commerce based business encompassing customer acquisition & retention strategies, viral marketing, SEO/SEM, & social media.
  • Experience developing high level budget and annual operating plans with success.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to delegate responsibility as needed.
