Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Direct ownership for scaling systems
  • Capacity management for all environments
  • Supporting dev and test infrastructure for the team
  • Implementing best practices (server configuration, security, etc)
  • Staying current on software updates for technologies in use and determine appropriate timelines for upgrades
  • Reporting on the state of the infrastructure and making recommendations for change as appropriate
  • Working closely with the team to ensure the needs of the platform are defined and met


You definitely:

  • Are an expert in Linux system administration
  • Have experience with the AWS stack (EC2, S3, ELB, ElastiCache, CloudFront, RDS, IAM, SES)
  • Have experience deploying, maintaining, and scaling Web applications
  • Get a kick out of defining and working on infrastructure as code
  • Enjoy collaborating with developers to design, build, deploy, and evolve sophisticated systems
  • Have previous Python development experience and are comfortable writing code if needed
  • Have proficiency with at least one configuration management framework (Chef, Salt, Ansible, Puppet, etc) and have opinions on their relative strengths and weaknesses
  • Understand the Unix philosophy


It would be nice if you:

  • Have experience configuring, deploying, operating, and maintaining sophisticated relational databases, including replication
  • Have an interest in, or want to learn more about, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
  • Have used Ansible previously for configuration management
  • Are familiar with the 12 factor methodology
