Job Description

The main objective of the live game designer is to support game production by being the central point of contact for everything that needs to transition on the live environment and make initial designs to address trends or meta that could occur. The live game designer is also the beacon of quality for users and regularly monitors how things are going for our community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design vision and documentation relevant to systems required in the game;
  • Balance game systems based on internal and player feedback;
  • Develop user profiles and play patterns for improved acquisition and retention strategies;
  • Ensure that any forced updates aren’t creating problems for users in-game;
  • Test features against the Live & QA Environments;
  • Cooperate with other disciplines to further enhance the player experience;
  • Search for and share solutions to address client & community feedback.
  • Participates to the daily « Live Status » meetings;
  • Monitor online platforms for user bugs and annoyances (forum, Facebook, Reddit, etc.);
  • Work in collaboration with community management to be on top of community issues;
  • List bugs and issues provided by the community;
  • Investigate and reproduce bugs reported by users;

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a designer in the video game industry;
  • Knowledgeable of current trends in gameplay and game systems with a strong interest in competitive team games;
  • Passionate about games and best practices for games as a service;
  • Proficient with Unreal 4.X and Blueprints for scripting and testing purposes;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel simulations and predictive calculations (analytical competencies and data modeling);
  • Able to communicate knowledge and ideas (flowcharts, feature specs, data reports, etc.) to team members;
  • Able to sift through data and come to meaningful conclusions;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (fluent in English);

Assets

  • Experience in an established studio in the gaming industry is a big asset;
  • Experience developing on multiple platforms (console, PC, and mobile) a plus;
