Job Description

The game writer participates in crafting the hero’s story, creates characters, writes dialogue, and provides any other narrative-related content required by the project (such as in-game text). He or she works closely with the production team to ensure coherence and quality as narrative content is integrated in the game.


  • Collaborate with other writers, designers, and artists to develop compelling story content that match the project’s tone;
  • Understand the intentions of the Narrative Designers and create story bible documents for the team to use as reference;
  • Write any text that contains narrative elements (events, loading screens, in-game documents, in-game store etc.);
  • Ensure and test the integration of narrative content into the game in collaboration with the various production teams;
  • Ensure that all reference documents are up to date;
  • Assist, when required, with any marketing/PR initiatives that require writing;
  • Generate detailed voice-over scripts and liaise with external voice-over houses and sound designers;



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Theatre, or Film;
  • Mastery of the English language;
  • Understanding of basic game-design fundamentals and principles;
  • Understanding of how to present a clear narrative concept flow using Visio, Excel, PPT, or other related tools;
  • Previous professional experience as a writer in the game or entertainment industry;


  • Ability to craft a clear and coherent story;
  • Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Basic understanding of game design fundamentals and processes;
  • Ability to collaborate, and respond to feedback/notes in a mature and timely manner;
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and an awareness of how to navigate limitations and work with available art/programming resources;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines;
  • Organized and able to juggle multiple projects at once;
