BlaBlaLines is the short distance carpooling service by BlaBlaCar. It is actively being developed and tested in three regions of France.

You will join a small team of engineers operating in true agile style at an early stage in the project. The current project goal is to iterate quickly and take over the short-distance carpooling market.

Our team is composed of experienced people that have worked on successful services before. The job provides a lot of opportunities to learn.

What you will contribute to:

• Lay down the product roadmap in collaboration with the product and the UX team;

• Support new features by creating API endpoints in the backend (Python 3.6, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, ElasticSearch, OSRM, Redis, Kafka);

• Create backoffice views for new features to help our support team (Javascript, Flow, React);

• Adapt existing implementations to growing scalability challenges, and actively fight tech debt via tooling and code reviews;

• Maintain the infrastructure of the backend (GitHub, Travis, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Kibana);

• Respond to production issues as they arise.

Minimum Qualification

• Experience with Python or at least one high level language (Java, C#, Go, etc.), and a willingness to learn Python;
• Strong computer science background (algorithms and data structures, networking, abstractions, security).

Preferred Qualification

• BSc, MSc or PhD in computer science;
• Knowledge of geographical information systems and routing algorithms;
• Experience with frontend web development (HTML, Javascript, CSS);
• Exposure to Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.
