Job Description

Successful candidates will be a key part of Blueprint’s five person Finance team responsible for owning the daily operations and monthly reporting. The successful candidate should have a dynamic personality with eagerness to learn, take on new challenges and excel in a high paced environment. The Senior Accountant role at Blueprint is a great compliment to any individual pursuing or planning to pursue a professional accounting designation. 

 

  • Preparation of month end reconciliations, management reporting, departmental reports, HST/EHT filing and assist with month-end variance analysis, preparation of budgets and annual audit
  • Review and improve internal controls and company policies
  • Prepare and calculate the monthly commission payment amounts for employees for review by the CFO
  • Own and manage the purchasing process
  • Post and reconcile company payments and receipts to general ledgers
  • Review and process employee expense reports
  • Process sales orders and post entries – including revenue recognition entries
  • Manage deferred service orders and related expenses
  • Track and bill customer maintenance renewals
  • Consistent A/R follow up in order to ensure excellent A/R collection levels
  • Monitor and manage the cash flow forecast
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Stay current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends
  • Perform other duties in support of the Finance team as required

 

Qualifications

  • University Degree with focus in accounting
  • Minimum 3-5 years working experience in operational accounting
  • Knowledge and understanding of accepted accounting rules and practices – including revenue recognition and reporting requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals across the organization
  • Demonstrate ability to manage accounting transactions and financial records – including experience with multi-company and multi-currency transactions
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently and the ability to adapt to different situations as they are presented
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to interpret, implement and recognized when improvements are needed in company policies and procedures
  • Strong work ethic, positive team attitude and the ability to be accountable for one’s work performed
  • Confident, consistent, proactive and decisive
