ASC Group, Inc., a full-service environmental consulting company, has an immediate opening for an Ecologist/NEPA Specialist in its INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA office.

Job Description

Tasks include field survey, report preparation, client relations, proposal preparation, and other tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Wetland delineations using Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual, applicable Regional Supplement to the Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual:  Classification of Wetlands and Deepwater Habitats of the United States by Lewis M. Cowardin, Virginia Carter, Francis C. Golet, and Edward T. LaRoe.

Wetland evaluations using Wilhelm and Masters: Floristic Quality Assessment (FQA) Program, Indiana Database, Version 1.0.

Evaluate streams using QHEI and/or HHEI indices.

Prepare technical reports.

----------

Coordinate and communicate with staff regarding project status.

Maintain schedules by accurately estimating and reporting an expected time of completion of each project.

Supervise and evaluate employees under their supervision.

----------

Prepare wetland delineation data sheets and stream evaluation index forms.

----------

Proposal preparation and marketing.

----------

Client relations.

----------

Travel to field sites in the State of Indiana and surrounding states is expected.  Overnight and longer stays at field assignments might be necessary. The position has the potential for professional growth.


Qualifications

ASC Group, Inc., a full-service environmental consulting company, has an immediate opening for an Ecologist/NEPA Specialist.  The preferred candidate will 6-8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in ecology, biology, or environmental science.  Candidate must have experience in wetland delineation, wetland and stream quality assessments, and endangered species habitat assessments. The preferred candidate must also be experienced with completion of NEPA documents and the Indiana Department of Transportation’s environmental process.  Good communication skills, computer skills, and the ability to work as a team member are important.

The preferred candidate must be able to meet INDOT ecological, NEPA document preparation, and waterway permit pre-qualification requirements.
