Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our technical team to support our projects in the Medical, Commercial/Industrial, and Defense and Security market segments

Requisite Skills:

  • Proficient in shop tool operation, including drill presses, grinders, cutting equipment (i.e., chop saw, band saw), pneumatic tools, and electric/manual hand tools
  • Maintain and operate 3D printers and support equipment (FDM, SLA, Printer bath)
  • Manage laboratory consumables and supplies, and inventory of project-related materials
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID, mechanical schematics, detailed drawings, and assembly drawings
  • Able to build, work with, and maintain relationships with outside shops to outsource mechanical components, including box builds, breadboards, engineering prototypes
  • Able to inspect and measure mechanical components
  • Demonstrated experience with integration and debugging
  • Able to redline and document the as-built product
  • Implementation of and teaching of good lab procedures
  • Understanding QA practices and upkeep and management of laboratory benches and equipment, including calibration schedules, lists of needed wiring, tools, equipment, etc.
  • Understand, practice, and enforce safe work practices related to the following:  respiratory protection, electrical safety, and PPE
  • Able to follow test protocols, including thorough documentation, with minimal supervision
  • Able to mentor junior engineers and interns and work in a team environment

Supplemental Skills: 

  •  Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485
  • Basic understanding of cable drawings, panel wiring drawings, and electrical schematics
  • Basic electrical debugging knowledge, including checking pinouts and for shorts
  • Ability to convert sketches or prototype-level electrical drawings to manufacturing-level drawings
  • Passing knowledge of LabVIEW or other test or prototyping software

Qualifications

  • Associate Engineering Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering or Degree Level equivalent
  • Five years or more experience in a similar role
  • Fluent in MSOffice (MSWord, MSExcel), fluency in MSVisio is a plus
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD such as Creo or Solidworks
  • Good communication skills
