Job Description


  • Manages day-to-day PR activities and client contact for select accounts in collaboration with senior
    leadership.

  • Assists senior leadership with executive communications counsel and ensures the successful
    implementation of clients' strategic communications programs

  • Develops strategic communications programs and initiatives including but not limited to media relations, community relations, public affairs, CEO positioning, social media, etc.

  • Anticipates and manages client communications issues for clients, providing counsel and effective positioning for key stakeholders.

  • Reviews/Edits the written work of staff including media materials (news releases, media
    advisories, background materials, media messages and Q &A) as well as
    client presentations, speeches and by-lined articles.

  • Develops and tracks budgets including the monthly monitoring of account team hours, out of pocket costs, etc. for multiple accounts.

  • Assists senior leadership in the guiding the professional development of direct reports including
    performance reviews and account work oversight.

  • Fosters a strong, collaborative agency culture.

  • May work with agency leadership on crisis and issues management clients as well as new business proposals, if/when opportunities arise.

Qualifications


  • Skilled in strategic program development and execution of public relations campaigns and initiatives with experience in coordinating events for internal/external audiences as well as media.

  • Previous experience in supervising account teams, providing mentorship to junior level staff as part of professional growth

  • Willingness to engage with senior leadership and participate in high level work including issues management and new business development

  • Ability to  thrive in a fast-paced environment; exercise independent judgement and discretion in matters of significance

  • Proven track record of successful media relations coverage; proven experience in pitching business and consumer stories to various media outlets, including online

  • Strong writing and editing skills; background in AP-style writing.

  • Proven ability to multi-task; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with social media platforms and their use for audience engagement to support public relations and  media strategy.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications,  Public Relations, Journalism, English or other related field.
  • 8+ years in an agency public relations role or in a similar position
