Job Description

We are looking for a key contributor to our R&D team who will be excited to put their skills to work solving some of the most difficult and important transportation problems in urban transit. 

The Research Scientist is responsible for developing and implementing network algorithms that provide optimal direct routing for our data driven mass transit service. You will be part of a team focused on the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of the algorithms that schedule and route our shuttles to get people from where they are to where they want to go. You will also be involved in our demand planning process, using your background and experience to predict rider behavior at the individual and small area level.

This position requires both an orientation to implementation and a strong theoretical grasp on creative solutions to improve the efficiency of data structures, search, and sort algorithms.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • PhD in Operations Research, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics
  • Strong programming skills and theoretical knowledge of algorithms and data structures. Experience with ideally more than one of C++, Python, Java.

Huge Bonus Points If You:

  • Have experience with distributed computing environments.
  • Are familiar with engineering best practices (unit testing, github, etc.).
  • Have worked for a startup in the past (and loved it).
  • Can share samples of your previous work -- we’d like to see any open source projects or other samples that you’re particularly proud of.
  • Love mass transportation and believe it can be better.
