Job Description

Summary

As a Workers Compensation Claims Specialist, you are acting as a centralized resource for all departments at CEDA. You would be responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting loss prevention directives and programs. Based out of our location in Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta, this permanent full time position will report directly to the Manager, Corporate HSE.

This position is currently working remotely until the end of the year on a 32/hr work week – providing for flexibility and a great work life balance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Injury Management (majority of the role)

  • Coordinate, update and maintain CEDA’s Injury Management Program
  • Manage workers compensation claims for the organization in all provinces across Canada
  • Work directly with third party consultants on workers’ compensation claims management and appeals
  • Train operations leaders and HSE team members on the injury management process
  • Provide direction and guidance to all stakeholders to effectively manage occupational injuries/illnesses
  • Schedule, organize and facilitate injury stakeholder meetings when required – provide facts about the claim, share your expertise and give advice on WCB policies
  • Provide summary reports and statistics related to occupational injuries and illnesses
  • Track and monitor workers compensation claims costs and the duration of claims
  • Establish relationships with provincial workers’ compensation representatives

Compliance Accounts

  • Maintain and update compliance accounts (including but not limited to: ISNetWorld, ComplyWorks, Avetta); coordinate documentation required and communicate updates to all stakeholders.
  • Prepare statistics monthly, quarterly, and upon request for compliance accounts, bids and pre-qualifications

Other Duties

  • Provide technical expertise and support for developing, implementing and maintaining the HSE Management System
  • Participate in the development and delivery of Health, Safety and Environment training programs and competencies – train leaders at all levels in programs such as incident investigation, hazard identification, etc.
  • Collaborate with HSE team members on strategic initiatives, program development and program implementation 
  • All other duties as assigned

Role Specifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience with workers compensation claims management (WCB) is required
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a Health, Safety and Environment role is considered an asset
  • Occupational health and safety (OH&S), business or administrative post-secondary education is considered an asset or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Pre-qualification compliance account management experience is an asset
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or Certified Safety Professional designation (CSP) is considered an asset
  • Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) is an asset
  • Prior experience working in the Oil & Gas Industry, preferably within Industrial Services & Maintenance is considered an asset
