CEDA is currently seeking Equipment Operators for the Sarnia location.  Equipment Operators assist in all aspects of  industrial cleaning and will operate and maintain a variety of industrial cleaning equipment including but not limited to vacuum trucks, and combo units.

The work is physical in nature where much of your day will be spent outside of the equipment working in all weather and industrial conditions. 

CEDA has full time and temporary opportunities available.

As a full time Equipment Operator you would be joining the Operating Engineers Local 793. A regular workday is 8hrs/day Mon-Fri from 7:30 - 4:00. There is also opportunity for OT where you could be supporting a turnaround outage working six 10hr shifts per day with one day off until the event is over.

Out of town and on-call work is a possibility for all full-time and temporary positions! 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Work alongside the Helpers to maintain operate and maintain a variety of industrial cleaning equipment such as, but not limited to, vacuum trucks, high pressure/water trucks, and combo units
• Provide quality services to our clients
• Ensure safety for all team members and property
• Complete required paperwork for projects and jobs
• Learn new skills every day by rigging in and out specialty equipment
• Work safely at heights up to 100 meters in a labour intensive capacity
• Climb safely into small vessels and tanks with industrial cleaning equipment – our experienced crew has your back
• Complete minor maintenance and checks on company vehicles
• Complete field level risk assessments
• Haul hoses, PPE and tools to where the work is being done
• Challenge your eye for detail, practice what we preach. Take your time, get the job done right the first time and safely every time

Role Specifications:

• Valid Class DZ driver’s licence with no more than 5 demerits in the last 2 years and experience operating a manual transmission is required
• 1+ years of labour or operator experience in an industrial environment is required
• Availability for emergency call ins
• Able to travel throughout Region (flexibility in scheduling is required)

Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• You are safety focused when it comes to people and equipment
• Not afraid of working outdoors in harsh weather conditions
• Perform physically demanding work including climbing multiple flights of stairs and carrying equipment (able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis)
• Ability to work at heights above 3 meters that may require the use of special fall restraint equipment
• Experience and comfort with confined spaces such as a small vessel/tank or trench
• Comfortable with the use of additional respiratory equipment and air supply; wearing a full face mask and carrying your own source of oxygen
• Able to provide a negative result on a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
