Job Description

CEDA’s shop in Conklin, AB offers a first-class culture with the opportunity to work on great equipment! Our mandate of doing the work right the first time is the pride we bring to the shop every day.

CEDA is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Journeyman to join our team. This is a full time position with camp accommodations provided. The shift will be 7x7, 12hr days based out of our Conklin shop.

We’re a small team, you’ll get to know the people as well as you know the equipment. The variety of interesting equipment with specialty components combined with the tools needed to do great work are a few reasons our shop team loves working here.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preventative maintenance on Vacuum trucks, Combos, Water Trucks, Tankers, and Pressure Trucks
  • Ongoing diagnostic and repair of diesel engines, after treatment/emissions, hydraulic systems and pumps
  • Troubleshoot issues, inspect equipment and replace or repair defective parts
  • Interpret work orders
  • Required to go on service calls in the field
  • Work alongside apprentices and delegate work
  • Attend daily tool box and safety meetings as scheduled

Role Specifications

  • Heavy Equipment Technician Journeyman required
  • Valid Class 5 licence with a clean abstract
  • Class 1 or 3 licence would be an asset
  • Weight handling of up to 50 lbs
  • Experience in hydraulic, electrical, and pump systems is an asset
  • Experience troubleshooting emission system issues using diagnostic software (typically Cummins)
  • Able to provide a negative pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Able to provide your own tools

 Skills

  • You’re happiest working in a team and getting the job done safely, as well as working independently on various projects in the shop.
  • You’re meticulous – you have no problem completing the required paperwork for projects and jobs
  • Prior knowledge of Cummins, CAT and Paccar engines
  • Comfortable using computers  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
