Job Description

CEDA is looking for Welders for our upcoming 2022 spring outages. Outages are planned throughout Alberta and will be starting in April.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair equipment in an efficient and timely manner,
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as MIG, flux cored arc (FCAW) and stick and shielded metal arc (SMAW)
  • Weld metal parts as specified by layout or welding diagram (blue prints, engineering drawings and weld specifications)
  • Fabricate and assemble fixtures, tooling, shop aids and other devises as required for special projects
  • Ensure quality of welds and rework as required
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of weld machines and accessories as required
  • Support safety and continuous improvement programs
  • Maintain and support equipment records and repair history
  • Provide data for cause and failure analysis
  • Take part in planning and scheduling within work systems
  • Other duties as assigned

Role Specifications

  • Registered Apprentice or Journeyman Welder (Red Seal preferred)
  • CWB Certification
  • B-Pressure Certification an asset
  • 2+ years of related industry experience
  • Strong understanding of production processes and welding equipment
  • MIG welding experience
  • Flux Cored Arc experience (FCAW)
  • Stick and Shielded Metal Arc experience (SMAW)
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Able to provide a negative pre-employment drug and alcohol test
