Job Description

The Learning and Development Instructor will work with Senior Executive, Human Resources, management, business units and employees to assess learning and training needs. This position will design, develop, research, and deliver learning opportunities and training programs that effectively support business plans and the achievement of strategic, tactical and annual business objectives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and ensure there is an effective match between learning program content and the target audience(s)
  • Design and deliver organizational training programs and health and safety training certifications
  • Provide advice and guidance related to education, career counselling and adult education and learning
  • Oversee the development and delivery of programs using instructional design, computer-based instructional design and multi-media development
  • Undertake in-depth research in specific content areas as required to develop new resources
  • Carry out evaluations to ensure learning and training programs meet desired objectives; analyze and diagnose reasons for successful and unsuccessful programs; work to overcome barriers to learning through proactive individual and collaborative action
  • Play a supporting role in developing and improving systems to store and retrieve organizational and individual knowledge through database(s)

 

Role Specifications:

  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, public speaking, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Certification or ability to become certified to deliver safety programs such as Energy Safety Canada Confined Space Entry Monitor and Fall Protection
  • Certified Training Practitioner (CTP) or Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) designation or progress towards obtaining CTP or CTDP
  • Minimum 2-3 years progressive experience in enabling significant business and organizational change through competency development, learning and training, and knowledge management programs preferably in the construction, academic, financial, engineering or retail services
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite and other content development tools and technology
  • Experience with  learning management systems an asset
  • Field experience in Oil and Gas industry an asset
  • Class 1 or 3 licence an asset

  • Skilled in team building and contributing effectively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of personnel from different locations and parts of the organization
  • You consider yourself computer savvy and have no issues learning new systems
  • You have well-honed organizational and time management skills and the ability to be flexible to changing and sometimes short-lead time needs of the organization
  • Strong listening, communicating and facilitating skills and a capacity to effectively deal with difficult interpersonal issues
  • Initiative and Independent; Strong commitment to internal customer service, performance consulting, workforce development, personal initiative and problem solving to identify and facilitate needed change
  • Original and innovative thinking will be required to design highly effective organizational learning and knowledge management framework(s) tailored to CEDA’s needs.
